ABOUT NEHRU MEMORIAL HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL
During the visit of the (Late) Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, in the year 1957, the then Headman of Umsning (L) Shri. Sodren Lyngwa who was a far sighted, kind, humble and a visionary along with elders and children of the village came forward to greet the Prime Minister, in such an opportunity, he requested the then Prime Minister for a school in the area. (L) Bah Sodren, being the headman of the village donated a piece of land where the main Campus of the School stands today. Then, immediately after that a Lower Primary School named, “Nehru School” in honour of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was started with (L) Babu J. Siria Tham as the Head Teacher.
